BITULINE: waterproofing membrane installation
Did you know?
BITULINE is ideal for flat roof installation and green roofs. Select the type and thickness of the membrane depending on the type or mode of utilization of the building and to the climatic conditions prevailing in the area. Please contact us to know more.
Storage of the rolls
The rolls should be stored in upright position. Do not store under direct sunlight. If the use of materials in cold weather is desired, they should be stored at standard room temperature for 24 hours before application in order to render workmanship easy and sound.
Temperature during installation
No applications should be made under cold weather conditions where the temperature tends to fall below +5°C.
No specific hazards using BITULINE
Bituline waterproofing membranes have no specific hazards for human and environmental under normal use conditions. They do not contain any dangerous substances.
Installation
Please apply BITULINE in two layers: it ensures waterproofing on flat roofs with inclinations up to 5°C.
Make sure the application surface is clean and dry at the time of application. Apply a single layer of undercoat BITULINE PRIMER on the surface to ensure a good retention.
Membranes are combined by fusion welding and then simply bonded onto the support.
Focus the flame on the roll in a back and forth motion, emphasizing the ends of the rolls.
When the weather is cold, warm the support if it is made of concrete.
- Start with valleys, ridges, gutters, rainwater evacuations and penetrations, expansion joints - must be made first.
- Stagger transversal overlaps to avoid crossed joints. It is forbidden to overlay 4 laps when recovering. All junctions must be done in T. Chamfer all seams that will be recovered by the 2nd layer.
- For the 2nd lager, ensure a vertical and horizontal overlap of 10 cm. Guidelines are printed on BITULINE membranes to show the appropriate overlap width of 10 cm.
